Warszawa 1920

Welcome to warsaw1920.com – the electronic museum of the Battle of Warsaw.

On August 14-16, 1920, one of the most important and forgotten battles in the history of mankind took place on the outskirts of Warsaw. The Red Army was heading for the Polish capital, seeking to conquer Poland, and then all of Europe. The victory of the Polish Army over the forces of Bolshevik Russia saved Western civilization from communist slavery. This event, from the name of the river crossing Warsaw, was called “the miracle on the Vistula”.

„Heroic soldiers of the Red Army!
It’s time for reckoning. The Army of the Red Banner and the army of the predatory White Eagle faced each other in a fight to the death.

The road leads through the dead body of White Poland to a global fire. We will bring happiness and peace to the working masses with our bayonets.
To the west!”

Michaił Tuchaczewski

commander of the Western Front of the Red Army

„”Poland has not died yet” – sang Polish wanderers in a strangled, mournful voice, as their homeland, plunged in the darkness of lost statehood and national slavery, awaited the dawn of better times. “Poland is not yet lost” – roars the victorious song of Poles on the battlefields, where the eternal barbarian enemy wanted to crush the newly born Polish nation. And their song echoes loudly in the civilized world”

Michael Halinton

Hungarian newspaper Pesti Napló, August 24, 1920

„Yes, it is a complete victory, a triumphant victory. Of the other Russian armies that threatened Warsaw, not much will come back.”

Charles de Gaulle

in 1920 an officer of the French Military Mission in Poland

„If Piłsudski and Weygand had failed to stop the triumphal march of the Red Army near Warsaw, it would have brought not only a dangerous turn in the history of Christianity, but also a fundamental threat to the entire Western civilization. The Battle of Tours saved our ancestors from the yoke of the Koran; it is likely that the Battle of Warsaw saved Central Europe and parts of Western Europe from a much greater danger: from fanatical Soviet tyranny.”
